Vikrant Massey, known for his grounded personality and stellar performances, recently became the centre of social media buzz when a photo of him touching his wife, Sheetal Thakur’s feet on Karwa Chauth went viral. The Sector 36 actor spoke about it with India Today Digital.
In the viral photo, Vikrant is seen touching Sheetal’s feet, symbolising his respect and affection for her as she performs Karwa Chauth rituals. When asked about the photo, Vikrant explained that it was a heartfelt expression of his gratitude and respect for his wife.
“This might break a lot of hearts, especially those who criticised and cursed me. I don’t have Twitter or Reddit, so my wife is my eyes and ears in this world; she tells me what’s happening,” said the actor.
He further added, “She showed me a couple of screenshots, which I read. There were some positive comments and some negative ones. But it doesn’t really matter. That’s my private life.”
Vikrant then said, “It’s not the first time I’ve touched her feet. We’ve been together for 11 years now. I genuinely believe in the tradition — we perform Lakshmi Puja, touch her feet, and we say that by touching a woman’s feet, all good things happen. Then why do people have a problem with that?”
Here are the photos:
“Since Sheetal came into my life, everything good has happened. So, I touch her feet, and she does the same. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it. I do it out of pure conviction. That said, there were many people who appreciated it. Of the screenshots she shared, about 70% were positive,” he said.
When asked if he has become immune to negativity, Vikrant responded, “No, I haven’t become immune to it. I’m still alive; I’m not dead yet. I have a beating heart, and I’m a sensitive person—it does bother me. But I’m learning new tricks of the trade to not let it affect me because I have a beautiful family to care of, a lot of work to focus on, and myself to look after. So, while I haven’t become immune, things don’t affect me as much as they used to.”
On the work front, Vikrant Massey is gearing up for the release of The Sabarmati Report, set to release in theatres on November 15.
